What is Quickstart Ireland?

What is a PPS number?
A Personal Public Service (PPS) number is an Irish employment tax number that is issued by the Department of Social & Family Affairs. This number allows you to work, pay taxes, open a bank account, and use public health services in Ireland. Also, by having this number, you will NOT have to pay the maximum 42% Emergency tax on your earnings, but you will be charged at a lower rate. Anyone wishing to work in Ireland must register to obtain this number.
Do I need to find a place to live before I arrive in Ireland?
No. Accommodation in Ireland can be found once you are here. It typically takes 1-2 weeks to find a place that suits all of your needs. Be prepared to pay a one-month deposit fee and one month of rent when you find the appropriate accommodation. The best place to start your search is the 'Classifieds' section of the Irish Independent or Evening Herald newspapers. How much money will I need for the first month I arrive?
You will need basic set-up costs and enough for monthly expenses. Approximate costs below.
Accommodation – 300 Euro/month + 300 Euro deposit (you will get this deposit back when you move out of the flat)
Food – 200 Euro/month
Transport – 70 Euro/month
Transport – 30 Euro/month
You will therefore need a minimum of 900 Euro upon arrival. This is an approximation, so please plan according to your individual needs.
Can I start looking for a job before I arrive in Ireland?
Yes. You can start to look for a job while you are in your home country, but you will most likely not have a job secured before your arrival. Typically, people start sending their CVs to different Irish job websites about one week before they arrive in Ireland. If you plan to do this, please note that is important to put your Irish mobile phone number, correct email address, and arrival date on your CV. This way Irish employers will have the correct details to contact you after you’ve arrived in Ireland.

I don’t have an Irish mobile phone number. How can I get one?
You will need and want an Irish mobile number for employers and also as a way to have your friends and family contact you in Ireland. The easiest way to obtain an Irish mobile number before you arrive in Ireland is with our Quickstart Complete Pack. This package includes an Irish mobile SIM card with 15 Euro credit included. How do I get from the airport into Dublin City Centre?
Airlink offers airport services, which will bring you directly from Dublin airport into Dublin City Centre or the rail/bus stations.
If you arrive into Dublin airport late, you can get into Dublin City Centre by taxi (approximately 25 Euro) or by AIRCOACH (7 Euro). AIRCOACH service operates all night. Just ask at the airport information desk to find out where to catch the coach. ( www.aircoach.ie) If you need to go elsewhere once you arrive into the centre, use the Nitelink. Operated by Dublin Bus, The Nitelink is a late night bus service for Dublin and surrounding suburbs. http://www.dublinbus.ie
Where should I stay when I arrive?
As part of the Quickstart Plus Pack, we offer you 2 nights accommodation in a Dublin City Centre hostel. This will be prearranged for you, so you don't have to worry about finding a place to stay when you arrive into the city. The hostel is centrally located, so it is close to all of the places you will want to go during your first few days in Dublin. You can also add additional nights to your stay for an added cost. It's a great and inexpensive first place to stay while you arrange a more permanent living situation.
What is the local transport in Dublin?
In Dublin, there is no metro, but there are several transportation options. The newest tram transport is LUAS, which covers the city from east to west. www.luas.ie
Nitelink – operated by Dublin Bus, this is a cheaper alternative to taxis to travel home at the end of a night out. www.dublinbus.ie
Rail Transport offers either the DART or train. DART is the urban rail network which covers the coastal areas. www.irishrail.ieBus Eireann Expressway service travels to major towns throughout Ireland. www.buseireann.ie
Where can I get a Dublin city map and information about the city?
You will receive a Free map of Dublin City Centre at any Quickstart information seminar. This will help you navigate the city and we will advise where there are some of the best places to go.
